Scholarships at the Freiburg University of Music

Target Group: ERASMUS students at the Freiburg State School of Music from Eastern Europe or, in exceptional cases, Southern Europe
Duration: up to 1 year
Amount: 300 EUR per month
How to Apply: upon admission as an Erasmus student at the Freiburg State School of Music; cover letter, educational background with artistic emphasis
Sponsor/Donor: Freiburg State School of Music
Target Group: financially disadvantaged (international) students who are not eligible for a loan; in most cases only students without a prior degree, in special cases postgraduate students or students in continuing education programs
Duration: for a single semester, applications for renewal accepted
Amount: partial scholarships from 300 to 500 EUR
How to Apply: during the semester prior to that in which the scholarship is to be awarded. The application deadline is announced in a posting at the school. Please submit your application to the Scholarship Commission of the Freiburg State School of Music. Applications should include documented evidence of your financial situation and a letter of recommendation from an instructor in your major field.

Participation in Competition or Course / Travel Costs (in German)
Sponsor/Donor: Funding association of the Freiburg State School of Music
Target Group: any student participating in a qualified national or international competition, master class, or continuing education program
Duration: one-time scholarships
Amount: generally 50 % of the total cost for travel and accommodations as well as the registration fee (for competitions)
How to Apply: Submit an informal application addressed to the Board of Directors of the the Society for the Promotion of the State School of Music (including a description of your proposal; the place and time of the competition or course; an estimation of the costs for travel, accommodations, and registration fees; your address; and your bank account information) as well as a letter of recommendation from an instructor in your major field to the Rector's Office (addressed to Ms. Becher). The application must be submitted in full before the competition/master class begins.
Target Group: gifted students from all fields of study
Duration: 2 semesters
Amount: 4000 EUR in two installments (2000 euros each in the winter and summer semester)
How to Apply: The student's professor must respond to the call for nominations with an informal application to the Board of Directors of the Rosenberg Endowment which clearly establishes the student's high aptitude. The application should include the nominee's curriculum vitae. Students cannot apply on their own. The application deadline is announced on the call for nominations. A preliminary selection round is held each year in October.
