Helene Rosenberg Foundation

The Helene Rosenberg Foundation was established by Ms. Helene Rosenberg on 12 August 1991 and has an endowment of roughly 370,000 euros. Its main purpose is to provide funding for gifted advanced students of the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg.

In particular, the foundation furnishes students with good instruments and awards grants for participation in master classes in Germany and abroad as well as national and international music competitions. The funds may also be used to provide grants to cover the regular living costs of highly gifted students who would otherwise not be able to afford to complete their studies. Moreover, the foundation can provide funds directly to the Musikhochschule Freiburg, for instance in order to award prizes or fund musical events.

Since 2008 the Helene Rosenberg Foundation has concentrated mainly on awarding scholarships to highly gifted applicants chosen in a yearly selection procedure at the school which takes the form a competition. The foundation awards four scholarships per year. In addition, every two years the foundation awards a 1,500 euro prize for the best musicological achievement.
