Major Fields

Pupils can choose from all instrumental major fields and voice, as well as music theory and composition as additional major fields. The work by renowned figures of the musical world and experienced educators, full professors of the Hochschule für Music Freiburg, is supplemented by lessons taught by our tutors.

Foundation Courses

The wide array of foundation courses is a new component in the academy's curriculum.

The main emphasis in ear training courses is placed on Solfège. This method has a long tradition in the Romance countries, particularly in France, and has also proven its worth in Freiburg.

The practice of Partimento is an important approach in modern music theory. Developed in Italy, where it has been practiced from the early 18th century on, this method for training improvisational techniques has become an increasingly important element of international music education in recent years.

The lesson in the basic subjects takes place in three performance levels. Accordingly, the young students are supported in the best possible way according to their age and individual possibilities.

Additional Fields

Courses on elements of body work, such as rhythmic training and vocal training, extend the young musicians' powers of perception and expression, help them meet the challenges of the developmental phase, and contribute to the formation of their personalities. The curriculum is rounded off by instrument-specific supplementary fields like liturgical organ playing or piano as a second instrument.
