Target group: female students of Freiburg University of Music, any study course, any major.
students should be prospective high performers and likely to increase numbers of professional women in their according majors or should seek for a University career as a professor.
Duration: 2 semesters
Amount: 400.- EUR per month

Graduates' Scholarship - "Landesgraduiertenförderung"

Sponsor/Donor: State of Baden-Wuerttemberg
Target group: fully enrolled graduate students, doctoral candidates
Duration:  Current call: 1-28 February 2023! Doctoral Scholarships: max. 3 years
                Artistic projects: max. 1,5 years

According to "Landesgraduiertenförderungsgesetz (LGFG)" of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg Freiburg University of Music awards Doctoral Scholarships as well as scholarships for artistic projects.

Deutschlandstipendium

The "Deutschlandstipendium" is awarded under a support programme of Federal Ministry of Education and Research based on the "Stipendienprogrammgesetz". It is meant to support talented students whose high achievements as students and future professionals are expected. It is announced annually anew as of 31 October.

E.T.A. Hoffmann Foundation (part of the Immanuel Kant-Stiftung)

Sponsor/Donor: private
Target Group: high-performance, financially low supported, mostly foreign students of Freiburg University of Music, who engage in artistic, intercultural or pedagogical aspects of classical music.
Duration: 1 up to 2 years maximum
Amount: full or part scholarships up to 400 EUR per month
How to Apply: application documents include motivation letter, CV and recommendation letter of the teacher in major, addressed to International Office. Deadline 15 February, funding starts 1 April.

Rosenberg Foundation

Sponsor/Donor: private
Target Group: gifted students from all fields of study
Duration: 2 semesters
Amount: 2000 EUR in two installments (1000 euros each in the winter and summer semester)
How to Apply: The student's professor must respond to the call for nominations with an informal application to the Board of Directors of the Rosenberg Endowment which clearly establishes the student's high aptitude. The application should include the nominee's curriculum vitae. Students cannot apply on their own. The application deadline is announced on the call for nominations. A preliminary selection round is held each year in October.
 

 

Scholarships for International Students

DAAD Grants for Graduating Students and scholarships for more equal opportunities (STIBET)

Sponsor/Donor: DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)
Target Group: students with a foreign educational background who are enrolled at a German higher education institution for their last two semesters and new as of the year 2024: for students with special challenges during their studies (e.g. special care situations of children or relatives in need of care, students with disabilities or refugees)

How to Apply: deadline for application in summer semester as of 15 April, in winter semester as of 15 October, submit application attn. Ms Pfann j.pfann@mh-freiburg.de.  For application please use the attached form plus an additional motivation letter as well as proofs for your special situation.

DAAD Award for Outstanding Achievements by International Students

Sponsor/Donor. DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)
Target Group: outstanding students with a foreign educational background who are enrolled at a German higher education institution and have demonstrated great social engagement
Duration: one-time award
How to Apply: The call for nominations is issued each summer semester. Applicants must be nominated by an instructor in their major field of study. Following a preliminary selection round, recipients are announced at the beginning of the winter semester.

Baden-Wuerttemberg Scholarship

Sponsor/Donor: State Foundation of Baden-Württemberg
Target Group: incoming students from one of the school's five partner institutions
Duration: up to 1 year (2 semesters)
How to Apply: Candidates must be nominated by one of the school's direct partner institutions (Kyoto City University of Arts/Japan, University of Toronto, Faculty of Music, Toronto/Kanada, Eastman School of Music/Rochester USA, Jacobs School of Music, Bloomington/USA, Michigan University School of Music, Theatre and Dance, Ann Arbor/USA, Sydney Conservatorium of Music/Australien, Staatskonservatorium Odessa/Ukraine ). Candidates must be enrolled at one of the partner institutions and have been granted prior admission to the Freiburg University of Music.

Study Abroad Scholarships

PROMOS 2024 – DAAD German Students' Mobility Programme

Support for summer-/masterclasses abroad or contests in foreign countries

German or equated or fully enrolled foreign Freiburg University of Music degree-students, can apply for funding a short stay abroad, usually for summer- and/or masterclasses or contests  in the year 2024. 

Students who plan a future ERASMUS stay will be privileged.

The lump sum funding amounts to 500.- EUR.

Application requirements:

  • fully enrolled degree students
  • enrolled at time of summer-/masterclass, not on leave of absence
  • relevant language proficiency

 

how to apply:

  • motivation letter, deadline 15 April  (summer classes) or 15 October (other masterclasses in 2024)
  • confirmation of application/confirmation of class/confirmation of internship
  • teacher's letter of recommendation
  • confirmaton of language proficiency

 

The first selection will be end of April, the second one end of October each year. All applicants will be informed in writing.

Target Group: graduates from the areas of classical music and jazz, born or currently living in Baden-Württemberg. Applicants should be under 35 years of age, in exceptional cases under 40.
