Application for winter semester 2024/2025 auditions

Application for winter semester 2024/2025 auditions is a two-step process:

Step 1: Online application

Applications for the auditions for winter 2024/25 will be possible online via the University Portal from 1 March to             1 April 2024, 11:59 p.m.

Step 2: Submitting the documents (by post)

Your application for admission as well as the documents to be submitted must be sent by post by 02 April 2024.                    The postmark counts.

Dates of the entrance exams

03 June - 08 June 2024 (Registration Deadline 1 April 2024)

Please note:

There will be no entrance examination for the winter semester 2024/25 in the Bachelor of Music, Master of Music and concert examination with major orchestral conducting and with major trumpet. There are also no entrance examination for the Master's and concert exam Saxophone degree programs.

There will be no entrance examination for the winter semester 2024/25 in the concert exam with major chamber music.

 

Deadlines

General Deadlines for auditions

  • for winter semesters (study start October): 1 April
  • for summer semesters (study start April): 1 December

Please note

  • The Master's degree programme in Music, major subject Music Education, can only be commenced in the winter semester.
  • For the polyvalent two-main subject Bachelor's programme in Music as an Artistic Subject (Music Teaching at Grammar Schools), the first semester can only begin in the winter semester, while university changers can also begin in the summer semester.
  • For the Freiburg Opera Studio, the registration deadline is 1 December for the following winter semester.
  • In the Master's degree programme in Music, major subject "Orgel – Interprétation à l’orgue" and major subject „Orgelimprovisation – Improvisation à l’orgue“, an application must also be made to the University of Strasbourg (via the portal Mon Master) in parallel to the application to the Freiburg University of Music. For further information, please contact Prof. David Franke. Admission procedures for these majors only take place for the winter semester.

  • Completed registration form (PRINTOUT) including supplementary documentation
  • Passport photo (please stick on the registration form)
  • Complete curriculum vitae (in tabular form) with the essential information about the previous education and, if applicable, artistic activity
  • Proof of payment of the registration fee of € 50 (not for FAB applications) to the following bank account:

  • For students without university entrance qualification: declaration by applicant confirming willingness to take extra an qualifying examination in addition to the regular entrance examination
  • University/college certificates/diplomas (if not in German: certified German translation)
  • Actual transcript of records
  • For FAB applicants: current school certificate stating anticipated high school graduation
  • For Bachelor of Music, Master of Music as well as Konzertexamen Freiburger Opernstudio applicants who are not German native speakers: certificate language test level B1; see § 2b of the Statutes on Enrollment
  • For minors: statement of consent by legal guardians

Please note

Non-native German speaking applicants for Master courses as well as Konzertexamen Opernstudio have to proof German language proficiency level B1 GER  (Zertifikat Deutsch B1); see § 2b of the Statutes on Enrollment.
