Application for winter semester 2026/2027 auditions
Registration for the Entrance Exams for the winter semester 2026/2027 has already been completed.
Dates of the entrance exams
08 June - 13 June 2026 (registration deadline 1 April 2026)
Special date for major subject orchestral conducting will take place from Monday, 11 May to Tuesday, 12 May 2026.
Special date: Choral Conducting and Master of Church Music will take place on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
Special date for major subject Elementary Music Pedagogy will take place from Wednesday, 03 June to Friday 05 June 2026.
Application for summer semester 2027 auditions
Two steps are required to register for the entrance exam for the summer semester 2027:
Step 1: Online application
Registration for the entrance exam on the university portal (Hochschulportal) is possible online
from 1 October to 1 November 2026, 11:59 p.m.
Step 2: Submitting the documents (by post)
Your application for admission, including the documents to be submitted, must be sent in paper form by 2. November 2026 at the latest to:

The postmark counts.
The incoming documents will be checked one by one and you will be notified promptly via the portal. Please keep checking back there.
Please note
There is no entrance exam in the following degree programmes and subjects: Master Music Ensemble Singing and Saxophone (Bachelor Music (+EMP), Master Music, Konzertexamen).
For foreign-language applicants for the Master's degree programme in Music, admission requires proof of an official certificate of a passed language test type B1 CEFR (minimum level); see § 2a Enrolment Statutes

General Deadlines for auditions
- for winter semesters (study start October): 1 April
- for summer semesters (study start April): 1 November
Please note
- The Master's degree programme in Music, major subject Music Education, can only be commenced in the winter semester.
- For the polyvalent two-main subject Bachelor's programme in Music as an Artistic Subject (Music Teaching at Grammar Schools), the first semester can only begin in the winter semester, while university changers can also begin in the summer semester.
- For the Freiburg Opera Studio Information on how to apply can be found here Freiburg Opera Studio.
- In the Master's degree programme in Music, major subject "Orgel – Interprétation à l’orgue" and major subject „Orgelimprovisation – Improvisation à l’orgue“, an application must also be made to the University of Strasbourg (via the portal Mon Master) in parallel to the application to the Freiburg University of Music. For further information, please contact Prof. David Franke. Admission procedures for these majors only take place for the winter semester.
- There is no entrance exam for the following degree programs and subjects: Master of Music in Ensemble Singing, as well as Saxophone (Bachelor of Music (+EMP), Master of Music, Concert Exam).

- Complete, up-to-date curriculum vitae (in tabular form) with the essential information about the previous education and, if applicable, artistic activity

Application for Compensation for Disadvantages
The application for compensation for disadvantages is made informally by e-mail to m.wehrlemh-freiburg.de. The application must specify and justify the desired examination modifications relating to the entrance exams. The relevant evidence and supporting documents must be enclosed.
