Bachelor of Music

Key areas of study, artistic profile only: principal instrumental instruction, fundamentals of electronic music, music theory, ear training, musicology, counterpoint, instrumentation, elective courses.

We offer instrumental composition as a major in the Bachelor of Music program with an artistic profile. This program prepares you for a career as an artist.

Requirements in the entrance exam

Colloquium on compositional and aesthetic questions based on the applicant's own submitted compositions (duration: 30 minutes).

Applications should include three to five printed compositions and (if available) recordings (CD, DVD, USB, or link).

Bachelor of Music (Teacher Education)

The bachelor’s program “Bachelor of Music (Teacher Education)” qualifies students for a master’s program. It includes an scientific subject that is usually studied at Freiburg University. The bachelor’s program is followed by a four-semester master’s program “Master of Education (Secondary School Teacher Education)”, which qualifies students for the practical training phase as teacher at secondary schools in the artistic subject of music and an scientific subject (Referendariat).

The degree program includes study options in both instrumental composition and electronic media.

Colloquium on compositional and aesthetic issues based on the applicant's own compositions (duration: 30 minutes). 

Three to five compositions in paper form and (if available) recordings (CD, DVD, USB or as a link) must be submitted with the application documents.

Colloquium (45 to 60 minutes): Presentation of and discussion about the applicant's compositions.

Three to five compositions in paper form and (if available) recordings (CD, DVD, USB or as a link) must be submitted with the application documents.
