Elisa Rumici’s Graduation Concert

The graduation concert »Rautavaara’s Piano Music: not a dead end« serves as the artistic performance component of the artistic-scientific doctoral dissertation »A Performer’s Perspective on the Piano Works of Einojuhani Rautavaara« at Collège Glarean.

Elisa Rumici is an Italian pianist and researcher, active in the field of music dissemination and committed to promoting gender equity in classical music.

She performs regularly across Europe and has appeared in prestigious venues and festivals, including Expo Milano, the Fazioli Showroom in Milan, the Italian Institute of Culture in Stuttgart, the Circolo dei Lettori in Turin, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Vittoria in Turin, Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine, and Gare du Nord in Basel. In 2015, her recital in Óbidos (Portugal) was broadcast on Antena 2, the national classical music radio. As a soloist, she has performed Mozart’s Concerto K. 271 in Vicenza, Moncalieri, and Crema, and Schumann’s Concerto Op. 54 in Sacile. In the summers of 2024 and 2025, she was invited to participate in Pianofest in the Hamptons (USA).

She collaborates regularly as a chamber musician with the Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, with which she has also appeared as a soloist in Beethoven’s Triple Concerto. Her collaborations include appearances with the Ensemble Diagonal under Baldur Brönnimann and the Schlagzeug-Ensemble of the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg under Håkon Stene.

Her discography includes Gilda Ruta: Piano Works (Da Vinci Publishing), A Musical Journey (Rhein Records), Francesco Marino: Piano Works (Diapason Records), and a contribution to the soundtrack of the documentary Foibe, il dramma dei deportati e scomparsi, screened at the 71st Venice Film Festival.

Winner of twenty-seven first prizes in national and international competitions, Elisa has also received numerous scholarships and is currently supported by the Cusanuswerk. Her concert project Revealed Virtuosity was awarded the Walter und Corina Christen-Marchal-Stiftung Prize in 2024.

Elisa received her first piano lessons from Maria Cristina Sgura and continued her studies with Maria Grazia Cabai, Roberto Plano, Stefania Redaelli, and Riccardo Zadra. She graduated in Piano Performance from the Conservatorio J. Tomadini in Udine in 2013 at the age of 17, and in 2016 earned her diploma in Piano Performance at the Conservatorio A. Pedrollo in Vicenza, graduating magna cum laude. She later studied at the Accademia di Musica in Pinerolo with Enrico Pace and, in 2021, received Master’s degrees in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, in the piano class of Filippo Gamba.
Alongside her concert activity, Elisa is an active researcher. She is currently pursuing a doctorate at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg under the supervision of Prof. Dr Natasha Loges and Prof. Alfonso Gómez. Her work has been published in the journal Analitica and presented at major international conferences and academic events. She has also co-organised and co-chaired the Artistic Research in Music conference 2025 in Freiburg, as well as the Feminale Festival in Basel, focusing on the promotion of women composers, past and present.

Her pedagogical experience includes teaching piano at the Conservatorio di Musica in Udine, at the Hochschule für Musik Basel and at the Musikschule Konservatorium Zürich.
